Earlier blog posts have shown that the family Norstedt from Höjen outside Falun is characterized by haplogroup I1-L1302, more precisely I1-BY211 or I1-BY2828.
But not all Norstedts belong to this family. Jonas Olsson who lived 50km away also took the name Norstedt. He was born at Larsbo mill, Söderbärke, 1723-07-18 and had many descendants.
Now two now living from different branches have tested their Y-DNA. The haplogroup is not yet definitively determined, but by all accounts they belong to haplogroup I1-L813. This is how their branches to the most recent common ancestor Johan Norstedt and the most distant ancestor Jonas Ersson look like.

The results can be found in The Norstedt project.
There are now two DNA-tested separate Norstedt families
- Norstedt from Höjen – haplogroup I1-BY211
- Norstedt from Larsbo – haplogroup I1-L813
I1-BY211 and I1-L813 both belong to the main group I1 but are then very distantly related. They are estimated to have a common ancestor who lived around 4700 years ago. The ISOGG tree for I1 exists here.
Update: SNP testing has shown them to be FGC9493+, a subbranch of L813 (2017-01-14).
