First free day of the holiday. The boat is equipped and we just quickly stow the last food and cast off from the pier in Pathholmsviken at around 1pm. There is almost no wind at all and we motor out towards V\u00e4stra Kvarken with a view to Gaddstr\u00f6mmen, the strait in the Holm\u00f6arna north of Holm\u00f6gadd which is the direct route to Vasa's northern archipelago. Sailing in the Gaddstr\u00f6m is easy even without modern aids, there are fine single lines (see Holm\u00f6gadd<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Soon we will be out in \u00d6stra Kvarken. Finnish outpost Vals\u00f6rarna islands<\/a> can immediately be sensed as a crane beam to starboard, but we continue with our sights on the Mickels\u00f6rarna. After seven hours and 42 minutes of distance, we moor at Kummelsk\u00e4r nature station<\/a> which is run by the Norwegian Forestry Agency.
