She was driven to Stockholm during the summer and was for sale the following year. Turid became ours, and dad got help from the previous owners in getting the boat up to \u00d6rnsk\u00f6ldsvik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I still remember how I scouted for Turid from Norrg\u00e5rd on N\u00f6tbolandet outside \u00d6rnsk\u00f6ldsvik where grandma and grandpa had their summer place. I scouted and scouted for Turid who would come from outside H\u00f6rnskatan. Finally I saw a little dot, and I was sure - it was Turid. Mum probably didn&#039;t believe me when I ran and told her what I had seen, but I was right \u2013 the dot got bigger and bigger and it was coming towards us!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><a href=\"https:\/\/turid.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/70_Rost501.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1500\" height=\"1040\" src=\"https:\/\/turid.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/70_Rost501.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"53\" class=\"wp-image-53\" srcset=\"https:\/\/turid.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/70_Rost501.jpg 1500w, https:\/\/turid.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/70_Rost501-300x208.jpg 300w, https:\/\/turid.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/70_Rost501-1024x710.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/turid.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/70_Rost501-768x532.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"blocks-gallery-item__caption\">Voice at the far end of southern Lofoten.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Turid was thus a Norwegian fishing boat from Lofoten, built in 1935. Turid had an exciting history, e.g. like a whaling ship with a harpoon on the foredeck and a barrel in the mast for a lookout. When she came to us, she was in original condition with old cod skeletons in the nooks and crannies of the cargo hold and a large heavy spark ball engine in the engine room. In the forecastle there were three short berths for overnight crew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After a year, Turid was rebuilt to be more suitable for a family with children and after that I spent a series of long childhood summers on board.
