The log book

Turid's log book

Jakob:

A boat needs a log book and for Turid II we have now had to take over dad's from the old Turid. It's exciting reading - all my childhood boating summers are documented here.

The first thing that strikes me is how much we were out with Turid and how far we went.

Abstract from the log book

In the summers of 1967 to 1975, there were 1375 hours of walking time, i.e. approx. 10,000 distance minutes at a speed of 7-8 knots. It is close to 2000 land miles, i.e. half a turn around the earth. We would have reached Tahiti if we aimed for distant oceans instead of staying in Swedish and Finnish waters.

No wonder the adventures with Turid live so strongly in me. There are many memories that come back when I flip through the logbook...

  1. Nice to read as I remember Turid very well. Remember uncle Knuth's story about sailing through Göta Kanal. I didn't know she was from Röst, I've been there twice. Wondering if the spark plug was replaced? Wish you a lot of fun with Turid ll which looks fresh!

    1. Hi Rune!

We made a trip on the sports holiday to a windswept and cold Röst, in 1970 I think, to visit the fishing family that had owned Turid. Knut was there and was responsible for driving to Bodö.

Yes, the spark plug was replaced almost immediately, it was a tractor diesel instead. Uncle Bolinder we then called the engine that was in the engine room.

Now we just long for spring again and the slightly longer trip we plan for the summer.

      Jacob
