Test ride 1

Jakob:

Today it was time for test trip 1. Eva and I had Engla with us as a guest and planned to partly deviate / calibrate the magnetic compass sensor, partly to raise sails and test i.a. the new furling jib mechanism.

At 11:59 we cast off and 20 minutes later the deviation of the Garmin Steadycast sensor started. We drove around in circles for a few laps and finished with a straight course at good speed. The result was as expected, the sensor now matches well with the large magnetic compass in the night housing in front of the steering wheel.

By the way, the sensor is placed far forward under the starboard bowsprit, the most interference-free location I could find.

The deviation only took a few minutes and then we intended to hoist the big one. Unfortunately, I messed up a bit with the case, which suddenly went high up the mast. It was just a matter of liking the situation and turning back towards the port's mast crane.

We moored at 12:52 and then spent about half an hour sorting out the mess. Eva had to climb up the mast crane and with common cunning we managed to get the case to come down on the right side of the shroud and stay.

Afterwards, it tasted good with a packed lunch including cake, leftovers from the Midsummer Eve celebration of Eve.

Before moving back to our place at the pier we took the opportunity to fill up with water; I had cleaned the tank the other day. We filled it to the brim, around 150 liters I have estimated it to be.

June 25:
11:59 – 12:52
14:48 – 15:03
engine time 1.1h
bunkered 150 liters of water
